The iconic Tony Knowles Coastal Trail and Earthquake Park become a winter wonder, perfect for snowshoeing or cross-country skiing with stunning views of the inlet. The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center showcases resilient wildlife against a snowy backdrop. Visitors can also witness the enchanting Northern Lights illuminating the night sky. Anchorage's winter festivals and events, coupled with warm hospitality, make it an unforgettable destination for those seeking a genuine Alaskan winter adventure. During February and March Anchorage hosts the annual Fur Rendezvous, Ice Carving Festivals, the Iditarod Sled Dog Race and other super natural winter events. AWS01 Matanuska Glacier Walk

The Matanuska Glacier is a stable 27 mile long river of ancient ice. Thousands of years old, this massive glacier is tucked up into the Matanuska Valley. You spend 2 h. on the glacier learning how the glacier has formed the landscape in the Matanuska Valley. Explore blue meltwater pools, the ice formations and deep crevasses that make up the Matanuska Glacier. Walking on ice is slippery fun so our guests are equipped with a helmet, walking stick and cramp ons for your shoes. This tour requires a walk of 1.5-2 h. In these winter months, we will actually have the assistance of a snowmachine. Of course, our fully-guided transportation includes a pick up at your hotel in Anchorage as well as water and snacks in the touring vehicle. We will also stop for lunch where we will overlook the glacier while enjoying some yummy Alaskan fare.

AWS02 Winter Dog Sled Adventure - 2 hrs

AWS03 Alaska Snowmobile Adventure 

Experience the thrill of riding snowmobiles in the wild backcountry of Alaska with opportunities to see wildlife, breathtaking views of Denali, and of course plenty of charging through the powder. Whether you’re a first-time rider or have more experience, our trails cover a wide variety of terrain from twists and turns to snow-covered forests and mountains that will keep you smiling all day long. Located just over an hour from downtown Anchorage, we have hundreds of miles to ride in Willow. Our tours take you from trail riding to exploring powder-covered fields on the Iditarod Trail, or climbing up the Talkeetna Mountains on Hatcher Pass. We’ll build your skills as we go and help you feel confident to ride like a champ as we get you into the best spots in Alaska! 3 hr Duration. Optional shuttle from Anchorage: add $125 per person

AWS04 Talkeetna Dog Mushing  & Kennel Tour

Dog Sledding is Alaska's official sport - have you ever seen a state with a more original sport? Meet the team at Dallas Seavey Racing for a full day dog sledding tour. This tour includes gear demonstration, Q&A with a genuine dog mushing, a meet & greet with the dogs that will be running this year's Iditarod & a chance to ride the runner of a dog sled behind some of the best canine athletes in Alaska! You will learn about what it takes to train a team & compete in the "Last Great Race" from a professional racing kennel! Our tour guide will pick you up on one of our comfortable touring vehicles then travel the snowy roads north into Talkeetna, along the way telling you all about the area. Your guide will stop for photos of Mt. Denali if the skies are clear we have a beautiful view! Lunch is included

AWS05 Glacier Valley Snowmachine Tour in Girdwood

There is nothing like the thrill of driving your own snowmobile! Riders over 16 each get their own machine to cruise through the wilderness on this 5.5 hour tour. On these machines, we can really see "back country" like we cannot from the highway. Many Alaskans own their own machines and spend the winter weekends outdoors basking in the midday sun and cruising the wilderness on snowmobiles, pumping up the adrenaline - it's what keeps us going! You won't regret really getting out there to see what the Chugach Mountains have to offer you. Wind through open fields, see beaver ponds, and frozen waterfalls. Under the right conditions your professional snowmobile guide will take you out to the glacier to see the icebergs and caves! Considered by many as a “Blue Ice Paradise!” Tour starts in Girdwood.

AWS06 Prince William Sound Glacier & Wildlife Cruise

A rich variety of wildlife thrives year-round in Prince William Sound, and you can cruise these spectacular waters in the comfort of our spacious heated cabins. Winter is no obstacle to your enjoying the beauty of alpine glaciers, jagged shorelines and towering rocky outcroppings through our vessels' large picture windows. We commonly see Steller sea lions, sea otters, Dall's porpoise, and perhaps even Orca or Humpback whales. There is also a variety of ducks and waterfowl present at this time of the year. Join the 3 1/2 hr cruise to see the massive tidewater glaciers of Alaska at Blackstone Bay and Beloit Glacier - some of the most amazing sights you will ever see. Cruise along Passage Canal and venture into magnificent Blackstone Bay, home to seven glaciers and Yosemite-scale waterfalls. During our adventure you’ll step ashore to experience the natural geology and thick rainforest. Enjoy a snack and hot drink as you reflect on your journey and this magnificent nook of Alaska. AWS07 Mt. Denali Flightseeing Tour

You'll fly within 6-Miles of Mt. Denali's 20.320 ft summit. Get a magnificent view of large glacier, ice-falls, mountain peaks and valleys and see how the last ice age has shaped the area. Continue to the Kahiltna Glacier and Ruth Glacier with it's Great Gorge - with over 9.000 ft the world deepest gorge. The flight continues to the Sheldon Amphitheatre – the largest of its kind in the world. Another highlight may be the Wickersham Wall – a 14.000 ft continuous rise of rock and ice. During the tour you may catch also sights of mountain climbers. All flights include window seat and hotel transfers in Anchorage. Duration: 3 Hours.
