Katmai National Park is located on the northeast coast of the Alaska Peninsula. Among all his diversity, the park boasts the largest population (more than 2.000) of protected brown bears in the world. During the peak of the world's largest sockeye salmon run each July, and during return of the "spawned out" salmon in September - forty to sixty bears congregate in Brooks Camp along the Brooks River, Naknek Lake and the Brooks Lake shorelines. Many visitors are concentrating their activities along Brooks River, where brown bear congregate to feed on sockeye salmon as they pass upstream. Two bear viewing platforms are located right above the falls.

Full Day Bear Viewing Trip to Katmai | Brooks River Falls

Your regular flight to King Salmon | Brooks Lodge departs around 7:30 am from the Anchorage airport. Charter flights are available around 8:00 am. Upon arrival at Brooks Lodge, a local park ranger conducts a security introduction about bear behaviours, safety issues and the Katmai National Park. Spend the remaining day observing a large number of brown bears from the different viewing plattforms within the Brooks River area e.g.: at Naknek Lake and directly at the Brooks River Falls. You may also fish for Sockeye Salmon or Trout along the entire river.  Included: A lunch buffet is available at Brooks Lodge. You you will be returning to Anchorage again around 9:15 PM.
