KETS#03 Misty Fjords Flightseeing / 2 Hours
What can we say about the Misty Fjords? I've done hundreds, maybe thousands of Misty flights and each one of them has been a different experience that you never tire of. It's beautiful in full bright sunlight and, well, when it's really misty and at all the stages in between. Hundreds of waterfalls shear granite and basalt cliffs, trees growing everywhere, even out of shear rock. A wonderland formed through the millennium out of fire (volcanoes) and ice (glaciers), where you will see wondrous scenery and have a chance to see eagles, bears, deer, wolves, mink, mountain goats, seals or maybe even whales. Perhaps that why this is our most popular flight. The flight starts in Ketchikan and flies 15-20 minutes through the Tongass National Forest to The Misty Fjords National Monument and includes flightseeing through the Monument and a shore stop for 20-30 minutes on a wilderness lake or one of the Fjords.

KETS#04 Bear Viewing Anan Bay / 5 Hours
The flight is 30 to 40 minutes through the Tongass National Forest and along Behm Canal and Ernest Sound. On a clear day (yes, we have some in Ketchikan) you will see majestic mountain s in the distance, virgin forest, islands dense with greenery, muskeg (bogs), and lots of lakes and water. The plane lands at Anan Bay and while we taxi to the beach you will see eagles in the trees (one time we counted 230), and fish & seals in the water. As you get off the floatplane, you will be met by a Forest Service Ranger who briefs you on what to expect on your hike to the viewing platform. The hike to the platform is about 20 minutes on a boardwalk and gravel/dirt trail. Along the way you will be surrounded by old growth forest and a fresh water stream packed with salmon going upstream to spawn! Truly the wilds of Southeast Alaska! At the platform there is another Ranger who supervises the platform and a photo blind. You will be able to spend 1.5 to 2 hours at the observatory, depending on your transit time on the trail and actual flight time to Anan. When you go on this adventure you should wear sturdy boots or shoes with good griping soles and bring rain gear. After all, this is a rainforest. A camera and plenty of film is a must. Please turn off the camera's flash so as not to startle the bears. You may not take any food or drinks on the trail except water. And lastly, prepare yourself for a fun and wondrous experience in a true Alaskan wilderness.

You can hike down a massive waterfall or along a salmon-spawning stream while the granite walls of the fjords tower over your head! A great way to stretch your legs and take in the sights. If your timing is right this trail is loaded with blueberries. Sections of the trail vary in difficulty, with areas of boardwalk, rocks and dirt. Good comfortable walking shoes or hiking boots are recommended. Trails are often muddy in sections so don't take photos of your feet and bring lots of film!
