| Valdez, Prince William Sound |
|
| Valdez is located on the north shore of Port Valdez, a deepwater fjord in Prince William Sound. It lies 120 air miles east of Anchorage, or 305 miles by the Richardson and Glenn Highways. Prince William Sound is one of the most spectacular and unspoiled wildernesses in the world. Majestic blue glaciers explode into its calm fjords. Humpback, killer, Minke, and Gray whales rise from dark waters, surface and spray with clouds of breath into the clear Alaskan air. Seals, Stellar sea lions, and otters sun themselves on frozen rafts of ice. Prince William Sound is a sanctuary to endless species of birds, including bald eagles. Upon your arrival discover the bustling harbor and historic downtown district. The next morning you have the choice to attend a half-day narrated cruise to Columbia Glacier or spend the day kayaking the waters of Prince William Sound. Additional overnights on request. |
