Glacier Bay Country Inn is located just four miles from the quiet community of Gustavus. The Inn is tucked into the verdant coastal rain forest of Southeast Alaska, surrounded by groves of spruce, pine and hemlock and ideal for leisurely walks filled with opportunities to catch a glimpse of bear, moose and bald eagles. Relax deeply here, comforted by the warmth, privacy and charm of your surroundings. Let the gentle melody of the wind chimes, afternoon tea among the wildflowers, and a dramatic sky lull you. Awake to the sight of local wildlife grazing in the meadow just outside your window. We offer a staff-to-guest ratio of nearly 1:2, ensuring personalized service for all of our new and returning guests.
Accommodation
Guest overnight in comfortable guest rooms or private cabins, all uniquely appointed with relaxation in mind. First class rooms and service, thick towels, soft comforters and flannel sheets provide the comfort necessary for a good night's rest, preparing you for another day of angling and adventuring, Alaska style! Our Lodge houses five guest rooms which each accommodate two to three guests, while our five cabins accommodate four guests each. A large dining room and kitchen comprise the first floor of the Lodge, and we offer a "keeping room," library, and game/TV room on the second story for our guests' entertainment.
Cuisine
Enjoy meals prepared in our 4-Star kitchen, and let our conscientious staff pamper you. The restaurant serves delicious 3-course evening meals with appetizer of Blackened Shrimp or delectable Crab Cakes with Chipote Aioli, Salmon en Croute with green peppercorn sauce, or perhaps the carefully prepared Tea-smoked Breast of Duck. Dessert offers are creamy Raspberry Cheesecake, rich Cinnamon Creme Brulee or a flaky Nectarine Tart. The perfect adventure/gourmet combination within a world-class sightseeing destination. | Your deluxe Glacier Bay package begins with a scenic morning flight from Juneau to Gustavus. Transfer to the Glacier Bay Country Inn. After lunch you have the option to attend a 3-hour whale watching and wildlife cruise that ranges over Point Gustavus, North Passage, Lemesurier Island, and Point Adolphus. Expect to see sea lions, sea otters, many types of marine birds, porpoise, humpback whales and the occasional Orca. Decide what you would like to do later this afternoon: hike the beaches, fish for King Salmon, paddle a kayak to see Glacier Bay up close and personal, or just take a relaxing cruise and enjoy the scenery. Whatever your choice, our experienced and highly trained staff is ready to accommodate you in comfort and safety. In the evening enjoy a gourmet 3-course dinner in the lodge’s dining room. |

| After a delicious breakfast you may attend the high-speed catamaran cruise into Glacier Bay. Watch glaciers with giant towers of ice 'calve' into the water. Throughout the cruise, watch for the Park's resident wildlife: humpback, orca and minke whales; harbor seals and sea lions: bears, mountain goats and moose; and more than 200 species of birds. The Spirit of Adventure, a spacious, comfortable catamaran, was designed for maximum viewing enjoyment with open top-deck viewing, interior seating and large picture windows. Throughout the cruise, a National Park Service Ranger explains wildlife behavior as well as the geologic features and cultural history of the Park. Lunch is included and served on board with complimentary hot cocoa, tea and coffee. After the cruise, return to Bartlett Cove. Transfer to the airport or lodge for an additional night. |
