Overview: Located in Kachemak Bay State Park on the Kenai Peninsula, about 12-miles southeast of Homer. Only accessible by boat or floatplane the elegant lodge features living and dining room with ocean view, sod-roof Finnish log sauna, outdoor hot tub, solarium with outdoor deck, and large docks with outdoor cook-out pavilion. Overnight accommodation in private cabins with fresh cut flowers, fruit, wine and chocolate basket, electricity, full bathroom and a deck with spectacular views. The Lodge’s occupancy is limited to 12 guests. All gourmet meals are of fresh, organic nature featuring fresh seafood, fruits, vegetables, and home baked breads and pastries. Enjoy evening gourmet appetizer, wine or locally brewed beer.
Only a few places in the world offer such a rich variety of habitat, wildlife and recreational opportunities. Guests have the choice to attend guided natural history tours, go hiking on forested trails or walk along the beach. Explore quiet ocean bays by sea kayak or rowboat with the chance to view seabird rookeries and rafts of sea otters. Fishermen have the opportunity to fish salt/ freshwater for char, flounder, trout, salmon and halibut. Attend a boat excursion to Halibut Cove, a small island artists’ community or go tide pooling, clam digging, and blue mussel gathering at low tides. Morning yoga class begins with gentle stretching.
Guests who would like to experience complete remoteness and supernatural peace may choose to stay at a beautiful mountain chalet on a remote lake for only 2 - 4 guests. The enchanting Hideaway is located on the shores of a mile long lake, surrounded by mountains and with a spectacular view of a glacier. Only accessible by floatplane it features two bedrooms, full bath, large picture windows, sun deck, woodstove, and sod-roofed Finnish sauna. No electricity is available but all amenities, including full bath and propane lights. Fabulous gourmet meals served by your hosts in the chalet dining room. Naturalist guide is available for hiking, fishing, canoeing, rowing and wildlife viewing. There is the distant murmur of waterfalls, the rustle of cottonwood leaves, and the plaintive yodel of the resident loons providing a soothing balm for the spirit. Floatplane transportation from Homer to the chalet is approx. $250.00.
