 10 Days Turquoise Glacier Circuit
 Lake Clark National Park
A vastly unexplored wilderness Lake Clark has been called "Little Denali". Dramatic mountains and ice fields drain into stunning lake systems. From tundra to spruce forests this seldom visited area offers excellent wildlife viewing, fishing and dramatic scenery. To walk on glaciers is to step back into the annals of history. What lies beneath your feet, slowly melting, is blue ice more than 5,000 years old. Be witness to massive geologic forces on a grand and beautiful scale. Touch the antiquity of the wilderness in a way that few ever have. Join us for this exploration of the source of Turquoise Lake and its surrounding mountain majesty. Our journey circumnavigates the massive bulk of the statuesque Telaquana Mountain with tundra similar to Alaska's North Slope.
 Itinerary
To walk on glaciers is to step back into the annals of history. It's to walk on ice over five thousand years old melting beneath your feet. It's to witness massive geologic forces on a grand and beautiful scale, and it's to be in touch with the wilderness in a way that few ever have.

After years of exploration and hundreds of miles on the ground (and ice!!!), we've found a non-technical (no experience necessary!!!) route that allows us to make a circuit connecting two of the most spectacular watersheds in Lake Clark National Park. This circuit will take us up and over glaciers, through spectacular canyons, past large waterfalls, and across some of the most stunning alpine tundra in the state.

If you dream of hiking through remote mountain ranges on ribbons of ice and learning about these powerful phenomena, then this adventure will satisfy your yearning. This 5-day trek will take us from the dramatic east end of Turquoise Lake, up through Crystal Valley, over the glaciated Crystal Pass, and down the Trail Creek Glacier. We'll continue around the Trail Creek highlands, onto the Telaquana Mountain Plateau, under the hanging glaciers of these 8000' peaks, and back to Turquoise Lake's north spit for our pick-up.

This trip is truly incredible and varied and we're able to see a great deal of Alaska in a short period of time. While the mountains present to us exciting routefinding challenges, the tundra will allow us the opportunity to hike easily and glass the horizons for Dall Sheep, Grizzly Bears, Caribou, Moose and birds of incredible variety.
