| The Klondike Gold Rush captured the imagination of the world. Rich and poor, young and old, women and men were attracted to the Klondike from all parts of the globe. No image better represents this historic event than the endless line of stampeders struggling over the Chilkoot Pass during the winter of 1897-98. Today the Chilkoot Trail and Klondike Gold Rush National Historic parks commemorate this extraordinary journey. The contrast between the scenic grandeur of the coastal mountains and the fragile remains of the stampeders' The route takes you through rainforest, alpine tundra, boreal tundra, snow-capped mountains, hanging glaciers, turquoise lakes, and cascading rivers. |

| Itinerary |
Day 1:
Arrival at Whitehorse Arrival at Whitehorse. You will be welcomed at the Airport by our guide and transferred to the downtown hotel. In the afternoon you have plenty of time to discover the many attractions of the capital of the Yukon Territory: The SS Klondike Historic Park with an historic 210 long sternwheeler, the Yukon Archives with documented history back to 1845, the McBride Museum showcases the Yukons cultural and natural history - and the Log Church Museum displays relics of northern pioneer missions. In the evening you will meet the guide and the group to discuss the hiking tour and check the equipment. Overnight: Klondike Inn |

Day 2:
Whitehorse Skagway In the morning transfer by a passenger van from Whitehorse to Skagway via the scenic White Pass*. In the afternoon there will be plenty of time to take a stroll through the historic district of Skagway. Here most of all buildings are remnants of the Gold Rush era. In the late afternoon you will be transferred from Skagway to Dyea campground where the Chilkoot Trail head is located. (*It is possible to take an optional historic train ride on the "White Pass & Yukon Route" down to Skagway. Price per person US$ 80.00 approx.) We camp overnight at the trailhead in Dyea. |

Day 3 - 6:
Chilkoot Trail You will hike the Chilkoot Trail from Dyea over the Chilkoot Pass to Lake Bennet. Stretched all along the trail and over the pass are numerous artifacts of the Klondike Gold Rush. You will pass through the remains of old trail stops such as Canyon City, Sheep Camp, The Scales, The Golden Stairs and Happy Camp. After 35 miles Lake Bennet will be reached. This Lake was once bustling with activity. On May 29, 1898, within 48 hours of the lake shedding its winter ice cover, a fleet of 7,200 primitive home made boats departed toward the Klondike gold fields. |

Day 7:
Lake Bennet - Fraser - Whithorse At about noon you will embark a train of the famous White Pass & Yukon Route for a ride to Log Cabin near White Pass where a van is awaiting you for the transfer back to Whitehorse. Accommodation at the Klondike Inn. |

Day 6:
Lake Lindeman Lake Bennett Easy hike to Baron Loon Lake, were we enjoy a refreshing dip in the cool waters and continue our journey to Lake Bennett at the end of the Chilkoot Trail. 20,000 prospectors waited here for the ice to break up to continue to the gold fields around Dawson City. This happened on May 29, 1898 and within a week 7,000 men boarded their self-made boats for the float down the Yukon River. Here we set up our last camp. |

Day 7:
Lake Bennett Fraser Whitehorse In the late morning we board the historic White Pass & Yukon Railway to Fraser where our van will be waiting for a transfer to our hotel in Whitehorse. Rest of the day at leisure. |

Whitehorse Transfer to the airport and departure. |

Please Note: During the Chilkoot Trail tour you have to backpack at least 15 kg / 33 lbs. Your excess luggage can be stored safely at the Hotel. The most severe section of the trail is from Sheep Camp to the Summit. Distance: approx. 6,5 km/3 Miles, elevation gain approx. 800 m/2700 feet |
